Phuthanang Home Based Care started at Mankweng Clinic in 2003 under a tree, serving palliative patients in the comfort of their homes due to HIV pandemic prevalent at that stage. Due to deaths caused by the disease, children were left orphaned. This is when they started taking care of the children's needs in the comfort of their homes. They are taking care of patients, orphans, victims of abuse and the elderly. They bath, feed and provide a direct observed treatment to patients and the elderly.
The services we are rendering to orphans and the vulnerable children is to make sure their documents are in order, they get foster care, are granted proper housing (like RDP), get clothed, go to school and have someone responsible to take care of their upbringing. Furthermore, we have started to establish adhering clubs and support groups at the clinics and the communities.
The organisation needs resources like seeds and hosepipes to start the greenery project on the new site allocated and the fencing for security purposes. The purpose of the greenery is to alleviate poverty to the orphans, the elderly and for the sustainability of the organisation.
